Adding Screen Captures to Class Handouts. To demonstrate my ability to create a help system while working in a team environment, I have decided to share topics from the Jing/Snagit Help System that my group created in the Software Documentation course. The result was the development of a help system that could actually be used by the targeted audience for which it was created. However, before diving head first into creating an online help system, members of the Software Documentation class had to do some research on the use of minimalism and usability testing for creating an instructional video and written procedures for a video. The Software Documentation course at UALR is designed to assist students in learning how to create a help system for computer, tablet, and mobile output as well as creating reference guides and user manuals intended to be published in printed form. I currently use RoboHelp to create new entries and make updates to existing information for a financial software product. As a result, I was hired as a technical writer intern before the end of the course, and then hired by the same company two weeks after my internship. After completing the Writing on the Web class at UALR, I felt that enrolling in the Software Documentation course would be the perfect way to increase my technical skills in order to be successfully in securing a career as a technical writer.

If you have ever read a job description for a technical writing position, you may have noticed that one of the most desired software skills for potential candidates to have is that of being proficient in using RoboHelp.
